Privacy Policy
Last Updated: February 22, 2026
At Screen Time Tracker, your privacy is our top priority. As a local-native application designed for Windows, we ensure your data stays where it belongs: on your computer.
1. Local-Only Storage
The core principle of Screen Time Tracker is that your usage data stays local. All tracking information, including application usage statistics, window titles, and productivity goals, are stored exclusively in a local SQLite database on your device. We do not have servers to store your personal usage history.
2. Information We Process
To provide tracking features, the application monitors:
- Process Names: To identify which applications you are using.
- Window Titles: To provide granularity within apps (e.g., specific document names or website titles).
- Executable Paths: To accurately categorize and iconify tracked applications.
This information is processed in real-time and saved directly to your local database. It is never uploaded to any remote server.
3. Anonymous Analytics
We use **Mixpanel** to collect anonymous usage events to help us improve the application. This helps us understand which features are most popular and identify potential performance issues. The data collected includes:
- App launch events.
- Feature usage (e.g., "Export Clicked").
- System platform version.
Importantly: We never send your screen time data, process names, or window titles to Mixpanel. Every installation is assigned a random, anonymous UUID to protect your identity.
4. Third-Party Services
- GitHub API: The application may periodically check for new versions via GitHub. No personal data is transmitted during this check.
- Local Export/Import: The "Data Sync" feature is strictly for manual backups. Exporting generates a local JSON or CSV file on your disk; importing reads from those local files. No data is synced to the cloud.
5. Your Controls
You are in full control of your digital footprint:
- Pause Tracking: Instantly stop all monitoring from the dashboard or system tray.
- Privacy Mode: Enable "Blur App Names" in settings to hide sensitive data in the UI.
- Data Management: You can export your data for your own records or permanently delete your entire history from the Settings menu.
